How Welile Rent Plans Work

A Welile Rent Plan is an arrangement where Welile pays your landlord the rent you owe now, and you repay Welile in small amounts over an agreed number of days.

Your landlord is settled straight away. You are left with a daily or weekly amount instead of a lump sum.

What Welile pays

The rent amount agreed between you and your landlord, for the rental period the request covers. It goes to your landlord — not to you.

The smallest rent Welile will support is UGX 50,000.

What you repay

More than the rent, because a Rent Plan has three parts:

  1. Your landlord's rent.
  2. A request fee — charged once for the plan. UGX 10,000 where your rent is UGX 200,000 or less, UGX 20,000 where it is above that.
  3. An access fee — the charge for spreading the payments over time. It grows with the rent and with the number of days you take.

Together these are your total repayment. Your instalment is worked out from that total, not from the rent alone.

Every one of these figures is shown on screen before you confirm anything. The full explanation is in how your rent repayment is calculated.

How often you pay, and for how long

You choose this when you apply, based on how you earn.

If you earn daily — a boda rider, a market vendor, a salon or a shop — you repay a small amount every day, over 30, 60, 90 or 120 days.

If you earn weekly, you repay once a week, over 4, 8, 12 or 16 weeks.

A longer period means a smaller amount each time and a larger total. Pick the shortest period you can genuinely manage.

When repayment starts

The day after your landlord is paid — not the day you apply, and not the day you are approved.

What you will see while repaying

Your plan shows your total, what you have paid, your balance and a percentage of the plan completed, along with your daily amount and your start and end dates.

See understanding your balance.

If a payment is not the full amount

Nothing is written off and nothing is lost:

Missing a day does not add a charge on its own — the amount carries forward. But if your plan reaches its end date with money still outstanding, a late charge can be added to your balance, so speak to your agent or Welile before it gets that far.

An unpaid balance also affects how much rent you can access later.

Completing and renewing

When your balance reaches zero the plan is complete. You can then apply again for your next rent period — it is a new plan, priced on its own, and it is reviewed again.
