What Happens If You Miss a Welile Repayment

The amount you did not pay carries forward. It stays due and it does not disappear.

Missing a day does not, by itself, add a charge — the amount simply moves forward with you. What changes is how much you need to find to get level again.

Finishing your term with money still owing is different

Falling behind day to day is one thing. Reaching the end date of your plan with a balance still outstanding is another: a late charge can then be added to what you owe, which increases your balance.

That is the situation to avoid. If you can see you will not finish in time, talk to your agent or Welile support before your end date rather than after.

What Welile sends you​

A message telling you the payment was not received, that it remains due, and that it carries forward — along with how to pay directly if you do not want to wait for your agent.

Example 1 — you miss one day​

Your daily repayment is UGX 9,200.

Today you pay nothing.

That UGX 9,200 stays outstanding. Tomorrow your normal UGX 9,200 also falls due, so to be completely level you would need UGX 18,400.

If you pay only UGX 9,200 tomorrow, that money clears the missed day first, and tomorrow's day is then the one left open. You are not penalised — you are simply one day behind.

Example 2 — you miss several days​

Your daily repayment is UGX 9,200 and you pay nothing for three days.

UGX 27,600 is now outstanding on top of whatever falls due next.

When you next pay, your money fills those days in the order they happened — the oldest first, then the next. A payment of UGX 15,000 would clear the first missed day fully and put the rest against the second.

Nothing is lost and nothing is written off. You are simply working through the days you owe.

How to catch up​

Pay whatever you can, as soon as you can. Every shilling goes against the oldest day you owe, so there is no advantage to waiting until you have the full amount.

Pay a bit extra when you can afford it. Anything above the day's amount goes forward — see paying more than expected.

Tell your agent early if something has gone wrong. A problem somebody knows about is easier to work with than a silent one.

Does it affect me later?​

Your payment record affects how much rent you can access in future — paying consistently increases it, and Welile tells you when it does.

Falling far enough behind to pass your end date with a balance can also add a late charge, as above.
