Does Welile Help You Find a House?
Yes. Welile keeps a directory of vacant rentals — single rooms, bedsitters, one to three bedroom houses, shops and kiosks — that Field Agents have listed and Welile has verified. If you already have a place in mind, you do not need the directory at all: Welile can pay that rent upfront instead.
So there are two separate things Welile does, and it is worth knowing which one you are asking for.
Finding somewhere to live
Houses on Welile are put there by Field Agents who visit the property in person. Before a listing appears to anyone it is checked by Welile's landlord operations team, so what you are looking at has been seen by someone rather than typed in from a phone call.
Each listing carries:
- the room count and the type of place — single room, double room, bedsitter, one to three bedrooms, shop or kiosk;
- the monthly rent the landlord is asking;
- at least three photographs, taken live at the property in daylight rather than uploaded from a gallery;
- the village, and a location pinned at the house itself;
- amenities where the agent recorded them — water, electricity, fencing, parking, whether it is furnished.
The quickest route is to ask an agent. Agents keep track of which of their listed houses are still vacant, and finding a tenant for one is part of what they do. Tell them the area you want and roughly what you can pay each month.
Where the house directory appears, and how you filter it yourself, differs by app version. If you cannot find it, ask your agent or Welile Support rather than assuming there is nothing available in your area.
Paying for it
This is the part most people come to Welile for, and it works whether you found the house through Welile or on your own.
Welile pays your landlord the rent upfront, and you repay Welile in small instalments over a period you choose. You do not need to find the whole rent at once.
What that costs, and what you would repay each day, is set out in how your rent repayment is calculated — including two worked examples. You can also try your own figures on Welile's rent calculator before applying.
To start, see registering as a tenant or registering with an agent.
What Welile does not do
Knowing the boundary saves a wasted conversation.
Welile does not become your landlord. The tenancy is between you and the property owner. Welile provides the listing, the verification and the rent payment — see what Welile does not do.
Welile does not set the rent. The figure on a listing is what that landlord is asking. It is confirmed with them by phone before any money moves.
A listing is not a reservation. Nobody is holding the house for you until you have agreed it with the landlord.
Nobody should charge you a viewing fee. No Welile process asks you to pay anything to see a house or to be shown a listing. If someone does, they are not acting for Welile — see account and security.
Common problems
"I was told an agent would call me back and nobody did." Contact support directly with the area you are looking in rather than waiting. A promise made in a chat is not a record anybody is working from.
"There is nothing listed in my area." The directory only holds houses an agent has visited and listed, so coverage is uneven. Ask support whether there is an agent working your area — and if you find a place yourself, Welile can still pay the rent.
"The house I wanted is gone." Listings come down as they are taken. Ask your agent what else they have before starting again.
