A Welile Payment Has Not Arrived
Who this is for: anyone whose money has left but whose Welile balance has not changed.
In most cases the payment is safe and simply has not been matched to your account yet.
Sending the money a second time does not speed anything up. It creates a second payment that also has to be traced, and leaves you short while both are looked at. Trace the first one.
Start here
Wait a few minutes. Mobile Money deposits are matched automatically and usually appear shortly after you pay. Network delays at the telecom can stretch that out, especially at busy times.
Bank transfers take longer. They are not matched automatically — the finance team verifies them against the bank statement first.
Then check these five things
- Did the payment actually complete? Look for the confirmation SMS from MTN or Airtel. No confirmation means the money did not leave.
- Did you pay the right details? Compare what you paid against the official Welile payment details. Money sent to an old code, or to a number someone messaged you, does not reach Welile.
- Did you use the right reference? Pay from the phone number registered on your Welile account, or give that number as the reference. Without it there is nothing linking the payment to you.
- Are you looking at the right balance? Agents: a float deposit lands in operational float, not in your withdrawable balance. See understand your balances.
- Are you in the right account? If you hold more than one Welile account, check the one you paid into.
Agents: try the repair tool
The Money tab has a panel for deposits that have not come through. Enter the transaction reference and it will look for that payment and credit it if it can be matched.
This often resolves a delayed Mobile Money deposit without anyone contacting support. It is a reconciliation attempt, not a guarantee — if the payment cannot be matched, it will not be credited, and support needs to trace it instead.
A reference that will not match
If a tenant paid Welile directly and you are trying to allocate it, use Collect from a receipt and paste the whole Mobile Money SMS rather than typing the ID. One wrong character prevents a match.
Matching an existing transaction is not the same as crediting someone from your float — see Rent Collection for which action fits your situation.
A duplicate or conflicting receipt
If the same reference has been recorded on two field collections, your dashboard raises it for you to clear. Until it is cleared, commission attached to that collection is held.
Clear the conflict rather than recording the payment again — a second entry makes the reconciliation harder, not easier.
A landlord payout that will not complete
A payout stays incomplete until the landlord's confirmation code is entered. If the landlord has not received their SMS, check the number recorded on the plan. See pay a landlord.

Have these five things ready — with them a payment can be traced quickly, and without the reference tracing is slow:
- the transaction reference;
- the amount;
- the date and time you paid;
- the number or account you paid from;
- what the money was for — personal, float, or a specific tenant.
WhatsApp is usually the quickest way to send them, because you can forward the Mobile Money message itself instead of copying the reference by hand.
