How a Welile Partner Portfolio Is Created
A portfolio is opened for you by Welile once your details are complete, your agreement is signed on both sides and your contribution has been received — you do not create one yourself in the app.
Each portfolio holds one set of terms: one amount, one term in months, one return method and one payout destination. That is why a second contribution is either a top-up to an existing portfolio or a portfolio of its own, and why it matters which one you are agreeing to.
Before you start
Have all of this ready. A portfolio cannot be completed without it, and chasing a missing item afterwards is what usually holds one up.
Your own details — your full name as it appears on your identification, your phone number, your email address and your physical address.
Your National ID (NIN). Every partner on Welile today has one recorded against their agreement.
Your next of kin — their name and a contact number for them. Also required on every agreement.
The account your returns will be paid to. Either a bank account — the bank, the account name and the account number — or mobile money, with the network and the number. The name on it should be your own.
The amount you are contributing. The minimum is UGX 50,000. The amount goes onto your agreement in figures and in words, so be sure of it before you sign.
Your return method — a monthly payout, or compounding. See return methods.
Your support mode — whether you choose the houses yourself or Welile allocates for you.
How a portfolio is opened
- Complete partner onboarding. The onboarding form collects your details, your payout destination and your next of kin. See become a partner.
- Agree the terms with Welile. The amount, the term in months, the return method and the payout day are settled with your partnerships contact before anything is signed. Terms are agreed in whole months — twelve is the most common.
- Check and sign your partnership agreement. Welile prepares it from the details you gave. Read the amount, the account number and the term on it rather than signing past them — these are the figures your portfolio will be built from.
- Welile countersigns it and you receive the signed copy as a PDF. An agreement you have signed but Welile has not is not yet in force.
- Pay your contribution using the route Welile gives you, and keep the confirmation. Never send it to a personal account.
- Welile confirms the money and creates the portfolio, with its own portfolio code, start date, maturity date, payout day and return method.
- Finance verifies the contribution. Verification is a separate step from the money arriving, so a portfolio can exist while the check is still outstanding.
What you should end up with
A portfolio code. A short reference for that portfolio. Quote it whenever you contact support — it is the fastest way to be understood.
A signed agreement carrying the amount, the term and the payout details.
A maturity date and a payout day, both visible on your portfolio.
The states a new portfolio passes through
You may see any of these while a portfolio is being set up or after it has run its course:
Awaiting your details. Something you have to supply is still missing — usually a payout detail or a next-of-kin contact. Nothing earns until it is complete.
Pending approval. Your details are in and Welile is reviewing before activating.
Active. The portfolio is running, earning and accruing to its maturity date.
Locked. The portfolio has been put on hold. Ask support what is holding it and what releases it.
Redeemed. The contribution has been returned — in full, or partly, with the remainder still running. See getting your principal back.
Cancelled. The portfolio was closed before it ran. If you see this and did not expect it, contact support with the portfolio code.
Can I have more than one portfolio?
Yes, and many partners do. Each one carries its own code, term, maturity date and return method, so a figure that looks wrong on one is often correct for another.
Before you contribute again, settle with Welile whether it is a new portfolio or a top-up to an existing one — see topping up. It changes the maturity date your money is tied to.
Common problems
Nothing has appeared after onboarding. Contact support with the date you submitted and the contact details you used, rather than submitting a second application. Two applications make the trail harder to follow, not easier.
The amount on the agreement is wrong. Do not sign it. Ask for it to be corrected first — the portfolio is built from the agreement.
You were asked for a fee to open a portfolio. There is no fee to become a partner or to open a portfolio, and no Welile contribution is ever sent to a personal account. See account and security.
