Welile Help for Landlords

When a tenant takes a Welile Rent Plan, Welile pays you the rent and the tenant repays Welile over time. You are paid up front; you are not waiting on the tenant.

How your rent reaches you

An agent brings it to you once the tenant's plan has been approved and funded. At the property, they pay you by Mobile Money or in cash, ask you to sign a paper receipt, and ask you for a code sent to your phone.

The code sent to your phone

After the agent pays you, Welile sends a confirmation code by SMS to your number. Reading it out to the agent confirms you received your money and completes the record.

Give the code only after the money is actually with you. It is not a code that moves money, and it is not your Mobile Money PIN — see payment codes explained.

The verification call

Before a tenant's plan is funded, Welile telephones you to confirm a few things: that you own the property, that the tenant lives there, the monthly rent, and the Mobile Money number your rent should go to.

Answer it. An unanswered landlord call is one of the commonest reasons a tenant's rent is delayed.

No genuine Welile call asks for a PIN or a payment

Welile asks you to confirm details you already know. Nobody from Welile will ask for your Mobile Money PIN, your password, or a payment before your rent can be released.

Your houses on Welile

An agent can list your vacant rooms, houses or shops so tenants looking for somewhere to live can find them. Listings are photographed in daylight, located on the map, and verified before they appear.

If something is wrong

The rent figure is wrong. Tell the agent and Welile the rent you actually charge. The figure on the application is checked with you by phone, and a mismatch stops the plan rather than quietly going through.

You did not get your money but the agent says they paid. Do not give a confirmation code. Contact support with the date, the amount and the agent's name.
