Your Welile Merchant Float and Your Two Numbers

Before you can take a single payout you have to tell Welile two different phone numbers. This is a hard gate — there is no skipping it and no working around it.

The two numbers

Your float number. The line the company sends payout float to. This is company money arriving for you to pay out.

Your personal number. The line your own money goes to — your commission, and anything else that is yours.

They must be different numbers. That is the whole point: it keeps company money and your money arriving in separate places, so neither you nor anybody else has to untangle them later.

Record them from the prompt on your dashboard. Until both are saved you cannot work.

What payout float is

Company money placed in your account so you can settle users' withdrawals without funding every one from your own pocket.

It is not yours. When you use it, the amount comes out of the float and only your 0.5% commission lands in your own balance — there is nothing to reimburse, because it was never your money.

Float versus your own money

Two ways to settle a payout, and they pay you differently:

Using company float — the amount is drawn from your float. You receive the 0.5% commission only.

Using your own Mobile Money or cash — you receive the amount back, plus the 0.5% commission.

Both are legitimate. Know which you are doing before you send, because one leaves you out of pocket until reimbursement and the other does not.

Keeping your figures straight

Check your float figure against what you can actually see in your own Mobile Money, and do it regularly rather than at the end of the month. The whole role depends on those two agreeing.

If your float figure looks wrong

There is a way to raise it, and you should use it rather than absorbing a difference quietly.

You can tell Finance which figure is wrong, what it should be, and what happened — what you sent, what you received, and any transaction IDs. Finance checks it and corrects it.

Do not keep trading on a figure you do not trust

If your float and your real balance have drifted apart, raise it before taking more payouts. Working on top of a wrong figure turns a small discrepancy into a long reconciliation.

Write down what you sent and when, and keep your telecom confirmations. Your own records are what make a dispute quick to settle.
