How to Become a Welile Merchant Agent

Merchant onboarding is a short checklist. Two items are yours, and the third is Welile's.

The three steps​

  1. Your full legal name on your account — your legal name, matching your identity documents.
  2. A verified phone number. Verify the mobile number on your account.
  3. Approval by Welile. Your application is reviewed by the team. Until that is done it shows as pending.

Once approved you reach your dashboard and can start working.

You will usually be invited​

Merchants are typically brought on through a merchant agent invite from somebody already on the platform, rather than by finding a public sign-up page.

If you want to become one, ask the Welile agent you deal with for their merchant invite, or contact support.

Before your first payout: your two numbers​

Approval alone does not let you work. You have to record two different phone numbers first:

  • a float number — where the company sends payout float;
  • a personal number — where your own money goes, including your commission.

This is a hard requirement, not a prompt you can dismiss. See your float and your numbers.

Also worth doing early​

Get your identity verified and make sure your payout number is in your own legal name — both are needed before you can take your commission out. See what you need before you can withdraw and National ID verification.

Sorting this out now is far better than discovering it on the day you first want to be paid.

How long approval takes​

Welile has not published an approval time, so this page does not state one. Ask when you apply if the timing matters to you.

What can hold it up​

  • A name on your account that does not match your identity documents.
  • An unverified phone number.
  • An unreachable phone number.

Staying safe​

There is no fee to become a Merchant Agent, and nobody should ask you for one. Nobody from Welile will ask for your password or a one-time code.
