How to Renew a Tenant After a Rent Plan Completes
Who this is for: Welile Field Agents with tenants who have finished paying.
What you will get from it: a returning tenant back on a new Rent Plan in a fraction of the time a first registration takes.
A tenant who has just cleared a plan is the best tenant you have. They have proved they pay, you already know the house, and renewing takes a few taps instead of a full form.
When renewal is available
When the tenant's Rent Plan is completed — their balance has reached zero and the plan shows as completed or cleared.
A tenant still repaying cannot be renewed. If they are approaching the end of a plan, wait until it clears.
Where to find it
Open the Tenants tab and your tenant list. Look for the tenant carrying the completed or cleared badge, and use the Renew action beside their name.
What carries forward automatically
You do not re-enter what has not changed. The renewal brings forward:
- the landlord and their payout number;
- the property category and address;
- the pinned location;
- the LC1 Chairperson verification.
There is no new photo, no re-entering the National ID, and no re-verifying the landlord. The tenant has already proved who they are.
What you still need to check
The renewal is fast, not automatic. Before you confirm:
- Is the rent still the same? Landlords raise rent. If it has changed, the plan must reflect what the landlord now charges.
- Is the tenant still in that house? If they have moved, this is a new registration, not a renewal — the property and location are different.
- Does the new daily repayment still suit them? Read the calculated schedule out to them and get their agreement.
- Is the landlord's payout number still correct? Numbers change more often than you would think.
How to renew
- Open the Tenants tab and find the completed tenant.
- Tap Renew.
- Review the repayment schedule the app calculates — the access fee and the daily repayment.
- Confirm the renewal.
It submits as a renewal rather than a new registration, and a clean repayment history on the previous plan counts in its favour at review.
A renewal is still a submission, not an approval. It goes through review like any other request, and it can be declined.
What happens next
It joins the same pipeline as any request — you can follow it in your submissions. See following a Rent Request for what each stage means.
Once it is funded, the landlord is paid again for the new period: see pay a landlord.
If something has changed
The rent amount has changed. Renew with the correct current rent. The repayment figures are recalculated from it.
The tenant has moved house. Register fresh, with the new property and a new location pin. A renewal carries forward the old address.
The landlord has changed. Register fresh. The payout goes to a different person, so the landlord details have to be verified again.
The tenant does not want to continue. Nothing to do. Their completed plan stands as a good record for them, and they can come back to it later.
