How to Register as a Welile Field Agent

Who this is for: anyone in Uganda who wants to work as a Welile agent.

What you will get from it: an active agent account with a dashboard you can work from.

Becoming an agent is open to any motivated person in Uganda. You register once, verify who you are, and take the Agent role.

What you need

A phone or computer with a browser. A smartphone is what most agents use. The app is built for field conditions and keeps working while the network drops, syncing when signal returns — you do not need to install anything from an app store.

Your identity. Your Ugandan National ID, so you can enter your fourteen-character National Identification Number (NIN). If you do not have your own card yet and a parent agent is bringing you on, there is an approved route — see parent-agent ID linking.

A Mobile Money line in your own legal name. MTN or Airtel. This is where commission withdrawals go, and it has to be registered in the same name as your account. A relative's number will not work.

How to register

  1. Open the official Welile platform at welileapp.com on your phone or computer. If a parent agent referred you, use their referral link or code so the connection is recorded.
  2. Choose to get started or join, and create your account.
  3. Enter your full legal names — at least two names, as they appear on your National ID — and a valid Ugandan phone number.
  4. Verify your phone. A six-digit code arrives by SMS. Enter it. This number becomes the one Welile uses for your account, so use a line you keep.
  5. Take the Agent role. Select Agent during sign-up, or switch into it later from your account menu.
  6. Complete identity verification. Enter your NIN, and take the clear photo the app asks for. See National ID verification.
  7. Read and accept the Welile agent agreement. Read it rather than scrolling past it — it sets out what you are accountable for.
  8. Open your dashboard. Once your account is active, the agent dashboard is your working screen. See understanding your dashboard.

Four different things, in order

These are separate, and finishing one does not finish the others. Most early confusion comes from treating them as one step.

  1. Your account exists — you have registered and verified your phone.
  2. Your identity is verified — your National ID is on the account, or an approved link is.
  3. Your Agent role is active — you can see the agent dashboard and its tools.
  4. You are eligible to withdraw — a separate set of requirements, including a verified payout number and, once you have repaying tenants, the daily collection requirement. See withdraw your money.

Do steps 2 and 4 early. Agents who leave identity verification until the day they first want to withdraw wait at exactly the wrong moment.

What happens next

Your dashboard becomes available and you can start work. Some tools depend on your account, your location and the current programme, so not everything a colleague has will necessarily appear for you straight away.

Start with getting started as a Field Agent, which puts the first steps in order.

Common problems

The SMS code has not arrived. Check the number you entered, check you have network, and request it again rather than guessing. If it still does not come, try again where the signal is better.

My name is rejected. At least two names are required, and they should match your National ID.

My phone number is not accepted. It must be a valid Ugandan number. Remove spaces and any leading zero if the field expects the +256 form.

My NIN is already registered. It belongs to an existing account — see National ID verification for what to do, including the sub-agent route.

Registration will not complete. Confirm every required field is filled, confirm your connection, and confirm you are on the official Welile site and not a copy somebody sent you.

One account only

Do not create a second agent account. Duplicate accounts on one identity or one phone number put both under review and can hold up withdrawals on each.

If you are locked out of an existing account, contact support instead of starting again.
